Fall 2008 Auditions

Our next auditions for the upcoming plays Misery and Angels in America will be held at The Green Room on the following dates:

Saturday, July 19: 1:00-3:00pm
Sunday, July 20: 1:00-3:00pm

A contemporary monologue of your choice is encouraged, but not required. All auditionees will be asked to read from the available scripts.

Misery
Adapted for the stage by Simon Moore, Based on the novel by Stephen King
Directed by Derek Bertelsen

Synopsis: Audiences will get a thrill out of this adaptation of the chilling novel in which Paul Sheldon, world famous author of the “Misery” romance novels, is crippled in a car wreck, only to be rescued by Annie Wilkes, his “number one fan”. When Annie reads his new novel where her beloved Misery is killed during childbirth, we discover she isn’t the angel of mercy she first appeared to be. Paul begins to realize that he has entered a new kind of hell beyond anything he might have dreamt up for his fictional heroine.

Characters:
Paul Sheldon: famous author of the “Misery” novels
Annie Wilkes: Paul Sheldon’s number one fan

MISERY rehearsals will begin on or around August 18. Performances will be September 25-28

Angels in America
Millenium Approaches (Part I) and Perestroika (Part II)

Synopsis: This Pulitzer Prize winning epic seamlessly blends realism and fantasy in a provocative, enticing journey through politics, sex, religion and identity. Subtitled “a gay fantasia on national themes”, everything is fair game in this sprawling epic of life in the time of AIDS. From The Bronx to Salt Lake City, via Antarctica and the Kremlin, a cultural melting pot of Mormons, Jews, African Americans, gays, angels and drag queens all figure in this witty, brave and life-affirming drama.

Characters:
Prior Walter, male, 25-35 years old, Louis’ boyfriend.
Louis Ironson, male, 25-35 years old, a word processor working for the Court of Appeals.
Joe Pitt, male, 25-35 years old, chief clerk in the Court of Appeals, married to Harper.
Harper Pitt, female, 25-35 years old, Joe’s wife, an agoraphobic with a mild Valium addiction.
Hannah Porter Pitt, female, 45-65 years old, Joe’s mother, currently residing in Salt Lake City.
Roy Cohn, male, 40-55 years old, a successful New York lawyer and unofficial power broker.
Belize, African-American male or female, 20-35 years old, a former drag queen and former lover of Prior’s.
The Angel, female, 20-40 years old, four devine emanciations.

Please note: The same eight member cast will be used in both productions.

The ages listed are a suggestion and are based more on look than the actor's actual age.
